Matthew And The Arrogant Sea and the sad, dark garden rock of "The Line"
"...between the meat and the bone..."
The latest offering from alt folk / psyche pop Matthew And The Arrogant Sea (based out of Denton, Texas) is the provocatively sad The Line. From the onset, the tactile acoustic guitar feels torn and when Matthew Gray starts singing his story, a story filled with uncertainties and unknown truths (to be discovered) it makes you want to know more about the backstory. His quiet moments and hard wails are held up by big electric guitars and drums with big folk rock gusto that veers into country / garden rock sounds too and the piano downbeats are so lovely. It ends before all the questions are answered but the Official Video heaps more darkness on.
The Line is the firs single from the band's upcoming EP "A series of dreams #2- But... Who are you now?" dropping in May (2020).
Matthew And The Arrogant Sea is Matthew Gray (vox / words / guitar), Tony Whitlock (lead guitar), Blake Vickrey (bass / electric guitar / mando) and Hagen Hauschild (drums / keys).
